REGIONAL FEATURES OF DEMAND BEHAVIOR FOR FOODSTUFF DEMAND AND OF VARIOUS FORMATS FOR FOOD RETAIL TRADE

Abstract

The relevance of the topic of the article is connected with the need to equalize the parameters of the standard of living of the population by regions, first of all, indicators of real incomes and consumption of basic types of food in the territory of the country.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the dynamics of indicators of real incomes of the population, the realized food demand, the development of various retail formats in the territorial context and the development on this basis of proposals for improving the institutional component of trade.

 The subject of the study is the change in demand for food stuff and the transformation of formats of retail trade in the Russian regions.

Methods of research. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the works of the classics of economic science, of modern domestic and foreign economists studying regional politics, territorial aspects of differentiation of the standard of living. The author uses both general scientific methods of cognition and traditional methods of economic analysis.

Main results: during the analysis of social block indicators for eleven years, the trends of changes in real incomes of the population, as well as the realized demand for food in the Russian regions are revealed.  The dynamics of various trade formats in Russia is traced. Proposals on the development of the institutional component of trade in the face of contemporary challenges and threats are formulated

Conclusions. Based on the study of trends in changes in the income level of the population in the territorial components of the federal districts of Russia, of the peculiarities of transforming the cost of purchasing food products, the necessity of small trade formats for the implementation of the state system of internal food aid is justified.
