MAIN TRENDS IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM OF RURAL SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT IN TERMS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC INSTABILITY

Abstract

Based on the analysis of materials from international sociological organizations, the main trends in the study of the problem of rural social development at the spread of the pandemic are highlighted. It is shown how the topics of foreign English-language symposia in 2021 reflect a wide range of problems of social development of agri-food systems in the context of modern global challenges and constraints.

The author puts special emphasis on the study of the activities of the communities of rural sociologists: the International Rural Sociology Association, the Rural Sociology Society and the European Society for Rural Sociology). During COVID-19, they pay attention to such global challenges as social vulnerability of the rural population, social exclusion, poverty, unemployment, social instability and concentration of natural disasters. The topic of research carried out within the framework of the largest association of sociologists in the world - the International Sociological Association (International Sociological Association) is considered.

It was revealed that the main direction of studying the peculiarities of the development of socio-economic systems of the village under the influence of a pandemic is the study of the problem of their sustainability. At the same time,  foreign sociologists declare the need for the formation of new thinking, which should be based on the concept of rebuilding the world in accordance with universal human values.
