DYNAMICS OF LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION IN REGIONS UNFAVORABLE FOR AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION
Abstract
On the basis of a different-level comparison of indicators of production scales, intensity and productivity levels, tendencies in the development of livestock in regions unfavorable for agricultural production have been revealed. It made it possible to characterize their status in the territorial-sectoral labor division. It was concluded that in most unfavorable regions of the North Caucasus, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts, arable land is limited. It predetermines the artificial nature of a high level of intensity and prevents further volume increase in livestock production. It is noted the need to improve the mechanism of support for regions whose territories are unfavorable for livestock production. This support is aimed to the development of differentiated managerial decisions both in terms of the production development and inter-regional exchange. At the same time, it is proposed to justify the corresponding priorities and allocate additional funding from the state budget in the framework of special programs. Advantage of the territorial-sectoral division of labor should be supported by additional measures, including, first of all, supporting the minimum level of profitability of livestock production.
