CONTEMPORARY TRENDS IN THE RESEARCH OF THE PROBLEM OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE RURAL AREAS (according to data from international sociological forums)

Abstract

The article contains the results of the analysis of materials of international sociological communities on the problem of social development of the village. It is shown how the topics of symposia held in 2023-2024 reflect a wide range of problems of development and change of the modern global society. The author places special emphasis on the study of the activities of rural sociologists’ communities: the International Rural Sociology Association, the Rural Sociology Society, and the European Society for Rural Sociology. Based on the analysis, promising trends in the study of the problem of social development of the agro-food complex and rural areas are identified. A conclusion is made about the main research track that is the  study of the social and economic sustainability of the development of agro-food systems and the “problem field” of this area is highlighted. Scientific categories, the application of which is emphasized by international communities of sociologists, are also identified: social vulnerability, social tension, viability, trust.
