COMPETITIVENESS OF RURAL TERRITORIES IN CONDITIONS OF GLOBAL CHALLENGES AND LIMITATIONS: GLOSSARY ON MATERIALS OF ENGLISH-LANGUAGE PUBLICATIONS
Abstract
When carrying out a study of foreign experience in transforming the agrarian sector, it is very important to study terms of English origin. This greatly influences on the correctness of perception and understanding of the subject, and a rich terminological stock helps to achieve the greatest accuracy in the translation of its meaning. In this regard, the article sets the task of creating a glossary on the problem of the competitiveness of rural areas in the face of global challenges and constraints based on the materials of English-language publications.
The author considers the key term "competitiveness", several approaches to understanding its socio-economic essence are singled out, classification is given and features of formation of competitive advantages of rural territories are revealed. It is noted that the competitiveness of the territory is determined not only by competitive advantages, but also by the ability of management to ensure the possibility of their implementation within the framework of territorial development management.
The era of globalization has caused an intensification of competition in the world market, international competitiveness became one of the most complex phenomena of modern economic life and one of the most important problems of economic science and practice. In this context, the article examines the basic concepts related to the problem of global competitiveness based on the analysis of the report on the state of competitiveness “Global Competitiveness Report 2016-2017”, prepared under the leadership of the head of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab - "Global Competitiveness Index", "Competitiveness Rate", factors of increasing the country's competitiveness (determinants of competitiveness improving).
A great attention is paid to study of the problems of foreign forums of international organizations that are lively responding to contemporary global challenges and constraints, in particular the European Association of Agricultural Economists. It is shown how the theme of the symposiums of 2018 reflects a wide range of problems related to the development of strategies for the development of agro-food systems and improving the competitiveness of rural areas.
