THE PROBLEM OF SUSTAINABILITY OF AGROFOOD SYSTEMS IN MODERN DISCOURSE
Abstract
The article contains the results of a semantic analysis of the basic term "sustainability", widely used in English-language scientific publications, and discusses related concepts. The systematization of interpretations of this term in bilingual, special and universal dictionaries is given.
To determine the qualities, properties and directions of sustainable development of agri-food systems, the lexical field on this issue is determined, which is used in modern discourse. According to the results of the analysis, the key concepts of the problem field are as follows: production efficiency, conservation of natural resources, equal access to socio-economic resources, resistance to external influences, effective and fair management.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) draws attention to the main principles and strategic directions for the transformation of agri-food systems in order to strengthen their sustainability. It shows how the considered conceptual frameworks are reflected in the development of the FAO Strategic Framework for 2022-2031.
