SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC TRENDS IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL TERRITORIES IN RUSSIA IN THE POST-PANDEMIC PERIOD
Abstract
An analysis of social and economic trends in the development of rural areas in Russia after the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic is presented. The features of the development of demographic processes in rural areas, the dynamics of employment and unemployment of the rural population, the level of cash income and poverty for 2015-2022 have been identified. The trends in the reduction of employment in 2020 are shown, as well as the differences in the unemployment rate of rural residents depending on the level of education and age. The trend of reduction in the share of low-income households of various types from 2015 to 2021, due to large-scale measures of social support for the population in 2020-2021, has been empirically confirmed. It is concluded that it is necessary to take urgent measures to reverse the trend of declining birth rates in rural areas that began in 2015, which has overtaken the negative dynamics of the birth rate of the urban population. The results of the study allow one to better understand the internal and external reserves of various groups of the rural population for adaptation during periods of social and economic instability.
